When to see your Primary care provider

  • You should see your primary care provider when you are feeling sick and when you are not. This way they can check up on you and make sure they provide you with the right information to keep you healthy.
  • You can get primary care from doctors’ offices, clinics, and health centers nationwide.
  • Visits to your primary care providers may charge you a copayment anywhere from $0 to $50.

When to seek emergency care

  •  Emergency room visits should only be done When you are injured or feeling very sick. You are more likely to pay higher copayments, co-insurance and have to pay a deductible before your insurance helps pay your costs.
  • Providers in the emergency room may not have access to your health records.
  • Always call 9-1-1 in life-threatening or emergency situations.
